Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four” is coming to a big screen near you, and we have a first look at who will make up the super-powered team. Kate Mara (House of Cards) will play the Invisible Woman, Miles Teller (That Awkward Moment, Project X) will play the limber Mr. Fantastic, Jamie Bell (The Adventures of Tintin) will become The Thing, and Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station, That Awkward Moment) will play a very hot Human Torch.
A reboot of the 2005 and 2007 run of the series with Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd and Michael Chiklis, this new version has large shoes to fill. Although the earlier films were generally panned by critics, they did gross over $600 million worldwide.
Reactions to the casting have been prototypically infuriated, specifically around Jordan’s casting as the Human Torch. Apparently fans of the series have no trouble believing that a human being could possess a superpower allowing himself to be engulfed in flames without injury, but just can’t get their head around that same person being Black. Go figure.
