Official International CES partner Endgadget has chosen Oculus Rift “Crystal Cove” prototype as their Best of the Best winner for CES 2014. The device is made by Oculus VR , who grabbed headlines in 2012 for raising more than 2 million dollars on Kickstarter. The company has since secured over 90 million in investments
Endgaget Executive Editor Marc Perton praised the device saying, “With the Rift, Oculus has created a device that may usher in an era of truly immersive gaming and entertainment, and even create new opportunities for businesses to use virtual reality in everything from manufacturing to medical environments.”
He continues, “Of all the exciting, innovative products we’ve seen at CES this year, the Oculus Rift ‘Crystal Cove’ prototype is unquestionably the best of the best.”
The device also has the support of Valve who according to BBC.co.uk will be shipping a dev kit that supports virtual reality. The kit will be released at Valve’s forthcoming Steam Dev Days conference due to take place on 14-15 January in Seattle.
